Wrestling Through Adversity Reviews
The author shows us how implementing breathing techniques, mental recall and self hypnosis allows us to empower ourselves and be resilient to face the problems that arise daily and that one feels powerless to solve. From an early age, in order to overcome what she calls Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), she learned to know herself, allowing her to develop the aforementioned techniques. In each chapter, the author gives us facts, some based on her own experience or that of other people; news taken from current events and in many cases, citing authors of works and/or books that provide support for each idea that she develops in the chapter. This means that the work has a solid database that demonstrates in-depth knowledge of the topics covered, in addition to demonstrating that it follows the scientific method, that is, observing, generating hypotheses, experimenting and verifying whether these demonstrate the validity of the theory, generating a work that is reliable and objective, the opposite of other books that present ideas without any factual support. This book teaches us to overcome adversity by learning to be resilient.
A Lot Of Important Information
I am a 30-year-old father with an almost 2 year old son. As a new father, I must confess that my two biggest concerns at the moment are maintaining a good balance between my work, my son, my partner and my physical and mental health, and ensuring that my son grows up healthy, strong and happy.
This book has provided me with many tools to address those points that I am looking to improve, as the cases that the doctor has brought up, the importance of physical and mental balance and the methods to get stronger, are everything I was looking for.
I must confess that chapter 1 was the one that marked me the most, because it is the basis of our handicaps, learning to deal with the mental obstacles that we impose on ourselves is to take a giant step to be able to start to assume the future. Recommended to every parent in my same situation.
Silverstein's book is an educational guide with a great objective that is fulfilled after finishing reading it: helping youngsters to develop emotionally and enhance their capacity to reflect and cope with stressful situations.
The book is written in a straightforward way, it flows naturally while it guides on how to strengthen their thinking abilities and their minds.
It has been a real pleasure for me to have found a book like this one that I could give to my nephews as a present since these types of narratives were not available when I was a kid. After reading, I wished I had had the chance to be exposed to a book of the sort at that time, I guess I would have been better able to overcome some well-being issues I was struggling with.
